What started in 2000 as a way to celebrate The New Yorker’s seventy-fifth anniversary has become a landmark cultural event. Each October, the New Yorker Festival brings together the biggest names in news, politics, books, film, music, art, and popular culture for three days of events—from panels and live performances to intimate discussions and exclusive screenings.

This year, Inside Access from Chase is pleased to sponsor the 20th New Yorker Festival and bring cardmembers three unique opportunities to choose from. The experience begins on Friday evening with the opening night reception, hosted by New Yorker editor, David Remnick, at The New Yorker Festival Lincoln Center Headquarters in the David Rubenstein Atrium. Be among an invited group of festival talent, New Yorker staff, media and friends to usher in the 20th Festival. A selection of wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres will be offered.

In addition to the reception, join other festivalgoers and select from three special events taking place on Friday and Saturday that offer Inside Access preferred seating and early access.

On Friday night, following the reception watch as Andy Borowitz brings his popular New Yorker column, The Borowitz Report, to life on stage. Following this conversation with Miami Herald reporter Julie K. Brown, there will be an opportunity for cardmembers to meet and take a photo with Andy.

Andy Borowitz, a contributor to The New Yorker for more than twenty years, writes the satirical column The Borowitz Report, which has appeared on NewYorker.com since 2012. He is the co-creator of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” author of the short memoir “An Unexpected Twist,” and editor of the best-seller “The 50 Funniest American Writers.” In 2018 Andy began touring with his solo comedy show, “Make America Not Embarrassing Again,” and this fall he will begin appearing regularly on the new PBS series “Retro Report.”

On Saturday, enjoy an interview with actor Willem Dafoe as he talks with New Yorker staff writer and film critic Richard Brody.

Willem Dafoe’s extensive acting credits span all genres of film, and include roles in “Platoon,” “The Last Temptation of Christ,” “Mississippi Burning,” “The English Patient,” “Shadow of the Vampire,” “Spider-Man,” “Antichrist,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “John Wick,” “The Florida Project,” “At Eternity’s Gate,” and many others. “The Lighthouse,” in which he stars, will be released in October; his next film, “Motherless Brooklyn,” will arrive in theatres in November. Dafoe has received numerous honors, including four Academy Award nominations. He has also worked in theatre and was a founding member of the experimental company the Wooster Group.

Also, on Saturday watch actor, writer, performer, and director John Cameron Mitchell when he joins New Yorker staff writer Sarah Larson for an interview followed by a live performance. John will also be available to meet and take a photo with Inside Access guests.

John Cameron Mitchell is the co-writer of the rock musical “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” whose title role he originated Off Broadway. He directed and starred in the award-winning film adaptation, and, in 2015, received a Special Tony Award for reprising the lead role during the run of the Broadway revival. His work as a film director and screenwriter includes “Shortbus” and “How to Talk to Girls at Parties.” His most recent projects include the genre-bending podcast musical “Anthem: Homunculus,” which he co-created and stars in.

Don’t miss this special weekend as The New Yorker celebrates its 20th festival season.
