Beginning on Thursday and continuing through Sunday morning this quintessential Kentucky Derby celebration weekend includes everything from expert perspectives and bourbon tastings, to a horse farm visit and two days of exciting horse racing. Additionally, enjoy three nights hotel accommodations at the Marriott Louisville Downtown.
The festivities begin on Thursday evening when Inside Access from Chase hosts a private reception to welcome guests for this iconic weekend. Best-selling author of The Kentucky Derby, Bill Doolittle will share stories and history about the iconic horse races guests will witness on Friday and Saturday. Following the reception guests will be transported to Hermitage Horse Farm for an exclusive private tour, Woodford Reserve tasting and casual dinner. Under original owners Warner and Harriet Jones, Hermitage became one of the most famous thoroughbred farms in the nation. Warner Jones is the only person to breed winners of the Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Oaks, and a Breeders’ Cup race. Bill Landes, Hermitage Farm Stallion Manager, will offer perspectives on the racing world and share the history of the farm. Bill was appointed by Governor Bevin as chairman of the Kentucky Thoroughbred Development Fund Advisory Committee and in 2018 The Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners awarded Bill with the Warner L. Jones Jr. Horsemen of the Year.
On Friday it’s off to Churchill Downs® as guests will be treated to Oaks Day. The Longines Kentucky Oaks is America’s premier and most lucrative race for 3-year old fillies held each year on the day before the Kentucky Derby. This year, Inside Access from Chase will be sponsoring the La Troienne race. During Kentucky Oaks Day, the historic racetrack is decorated in pink bunting and the more than 100,000 guests are asked to prominently incorporate pink into their attire in an effort to raise funds and drive national attention to the fight against breast and ovarian cancer. Those guests who do not wish to attend the Oaks Day races may enjoy Louisville on their own.
On Friday evening enjoy the annual Stitzel-Weller Affair presented by Blade and Bow Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Stitzel-Weller Distillery located on the Bourbon Trail is one of the true cathedrals of Bourbon. During this special evening guests will experience a private tour and tasting, bespoke Mint Julep bar, and a photo opportunity with a retired race horse, followed by a seated dinner and folk-rock musical performance by Mt. Joy.
Saturday, Kentucky Derby Day guests will enjoy an historic day of racing, casual buffet style southern cuisine throughout the day, and Mint Juleps topped off by the crown jewel of thoroughbred races, the Kentucky Derby.
Following the last race on Derby Day guests will attend the Winner’s Party to celebrate with the winning owner, trainer and other special guests. Hosted at the Churchill Downs Derby Museum, Inside Access guests will be among hundreds to attend this special cocktail and hors d'oeuvres reception and view the on-stage honors and presentation of the winner’s trophies as history is made.
Over the two days of races at Churchill Downs guests will have reserved seats in a covered area with other attendees in the Vineyard Vines Club, which is situated on the iconic first turn of the racetrack. The Vineyard Vines Club offers a front row seat to thunderous racing and the famous Kentucky Derby Walkover, where contenders parade along the track from the barn area to the Paddock prior to the big race.
